Good Bye 2020, Hello 2021

Self Love

I don’t know about you BUT my 2020 was pretty eventful. I personally went through a lot of changes in my life that I wasn’t totally prepared for, however, God carried me through it all. I laughed, I cried, I had many, many sleepless nights, but I also made lots of great memories and for that I am ever so grateful. I can truly say it was a movie! All in all, 2020 has taught many of us the value of family and friends. Society teaches us to go, go, go, work hard so you can accomplish this goal or that goal but what about the things that are REALLY important?? Like memories, quality time with loved ones, relaxation, fun??? Life as we know has changed in many ways. There’s no concerts to attend, or the movies and many of us are working from home. This is the perfect time, in my opinion, to embrace and love on our loved ones. I truly believe that God stepped in and decided to slow this world down so we can take time out to love the people who are in our lives. Being busy is cool and all but I rather enjoy the presence of those who love me. At the end of the day, no one is promised tomorrow. Personally, I have been taking advantage of this down time. I have been able to obtain goals that have been set forth and breathe a little. I miss going out like the next person and I am sure that it will be a time again where the world will open up but for right now, I am embracing it and making memories along the way.

I am very optimistic that 2021 will bring nothing but great moments our way! After all, life is all about perspective so let’s try to stay positive no matter what. Here’s a few things I do in order to stay grounded:

-Daily prayer keeps me aligned and at peace with myself.

-Meditating for a few minutes a day goes a long way especially when them nagging thoughts try to creep in.

-Journaling on a daily has changed my life drastically, it really helps me release all the pint up emotions I have inside.

Well cheers to new year. Let’s make this one the best one yet! Until next time xoxoxo

My Declaration to Myself: I’m Worthy Even If You Can’t See It.

Self Love

Lately, things haven’t been going my way. I’ve experienced a lot of pain and suffering and I ain’t afraid to admit that. Luckily for me, I am a work in progress. I got my heart broken into a million pieces and that left me unsure of myself. If you know me, you know I love HARD! Im selfless, I always want the best for others and in return I lost myself in this relationship and I failed to take care of me. I had to take sometime and really reflect on the role I played in this relationship. In my opinion, I did what I thought was best for the relationship but somehow it still didn’t work. I’m not perfect and I am flawed like the next person but my heart was in the right place. I learned a hard lesson that I’ll never forget though and that is even if I love a person, I still have love me more. That’s where I went wrong. I loved him more than I loved myself and when the relationship ended it felt like a piece of myself was ripped away. At the end of the day, the only person I have is myself, everyone else can easily walk out of my life, but I still have to deal with me. From this point on, I will dedicate myself to loving me properly. Don’t get me wrong, it is nice to have a companion around, but when it is all said and done, it is necessary to pour that same love and affection that you would pour into a relationship, into yourself. I am definitely learning this. I am worthy even if you can’t see it! Everyone won’t see your value and that is a hard pill to swallow for me personally, however, it is the reality of things. I am grateful that I was able to see my errors and I am working towards being a better me and showing myself more love. It’s nothing wrong with loving someone and being there for others, however, if you don’t take care of yourself, you won’t have the necessary things needed to help others. I will always have a big heart, it is the way God created me but I am learning to be selfish with my time and who I spend it with. God is in total control of my life. Well, Im signing off, until next time xoxo.

She’s my favorite girl; she’s all I got.

Manifestion is Real Yall!!! Watch Your Words and Your Thoughts Please!

Self Love

So I woke up this morning and I randomly logged into Instagram and came across an interview that Megan Thee Stallion did some years back. If you haven’t heard already, Megan just dropped her “Savage” remix featuring Beyonce. Yes, the Queen B! How dope is this! Two hotties from Houston, I’m in awe. In the interview, Megan expressed how she would love to work with Beyonce and something clicked in my brain. She manifested what she wanted with her words.

Words are sooooooooo powerful! If you don’t believe me, try it for yourself! Listen, I don’t have all the answers, but I do know that words and thoughts are influential. Whatever you think comes out of your mouth. So pay attention to what you are thinking about. If there are negative thoughts nagging in your brain, cancel them out and think about something positive. Yes I know this can be hard and it is something that I am personally working on my myself. Yes, I am taking my OWN advice because I want to manifest nothing but GREAT things into my life.

What are some things you can do on the daily to help with manifesting? Well I am pleased that you asked. Here’s some things I like to partake in to keep myself centered and on the right track with my mind, thoughts and words.

-Prayer: Whew child prayer works! I love spending time with God. I always feel refreshed and renewed after saying my prayers. He is indeed my best friend and He is always there when I need him. It is definitely no one like Him!

-Affirmations: Youtube has tons of positive affirmations you can choose from. You can listen to them and say them out loud. This is my personal favorite because like I stated before, words are powerful and speaking good things over yourself is essential. This is also a practice I like to do when I am feeling down and out, it lifts my spirits and put me in a better place.

-Reading: I love to read positive things. It just puts me in a better mood. It gives me hope for my own life. With all the things that are going on at the present moment, I find it refreshing to indulge in something thats full of joy and life. There is entirely too many negative images floating around and after awhile if you don’t check where your attention lies, you will find yourself feeling down and out. I’ve been down this road so many times, but I am glad that I have the knowledge to check myself when I feel myself going down a negative route. Yes I have my days, but I am so much happier now because I’ve found things to help me cope with life.

-Writing: I like to express myself through writing. I guess that is pretty apparent since I have a blog! But it truly helps me. Writing positive things out and reading them over and over again can be very helpful for your spirit.

-Vision Boards: A couple years ago, two years to be exact, I was on the hunt for my dream house. I knew by a certain age, I wanted to be a property owner. You want to know what I did? I made a vision board with all the things I wanted to manifest in my life and in the center of the board, lied the house I wanted. I told myself I wanted a finished basement to have company over. I sometimes like to host parties and events, but I couldn’t do that at my old apartment. God blessed me with a home that has a huge finished basement and I was finally able to have gatherings, before all this social distancing was put into place, of course! Also, I told God that I wanted three bedrooms simply because I wanted a guest room when people visited and a beauty room. Yes I said a beauty room. I am into hair, makeup, fashion and anything that is cute.  I needed the space for that! What I am saying is, I truly believe these things came to past because I had vision for my life. I would stare at my vision board and imagine what life would be like to have a house and a backyard. I can truly say that I am grateful and appreciative of all the things God has blessed me with.

These are just a few things personally like to do. Try it for yourself and remember watch your words and your thoughts! Lets manifest nothing but greatness kings and queens. Until next time, xoxoxo

March Check-In: My Year Isn’t Canceled.

Self Love

Hello World! Hope everyone is holding up from this quarantine we are all facing. If you don’t know, our world has been effect by a deadly virus called coronavirus disease or COVID-19. Schools, restaurants, bowling alleys, gyms, and many more establishments are currently closed to prevent the spread of the disease. If you are anything like me, you may be glued to your phone, tracking the news paper articles because there has been so much uncertainty. There has been so much information thrown my way, I feel as if my brain is going to explode! With that being said, I think it’s pretty healthy to step back from the news articles and focus on something positive to get us through this quarantine.

Heres some tips to help you survive the quarantine:

Limiting the amount of social media you take in on a daily basis is helpful to keep you centered and on focused on positive thoughts. I personally find myself spending too much time on my social media outlets and as a results, I tend to feel drained and overwhelmed with the problems of the world. Cutting back is a necessity.

Exercise and mediation is a great outlet to release negative thoughts and emotions. Since I’ve been home from work, I have a little bit more free time to enjoy working out at home. I always feel ten times better when I am done exercising and meditating. Don’t believe me? Try it for yourself!

Music is therapy. At least for me it is! Try listening to your favorite tunes to lighten up the mood. I personally don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have my music. It is definitely a stress reliever for me.

Check up on friends and family during this time. Its always good to hear from loved ones. With everyone being busy with life, we tend to get caught up in meaningless things and over look precious moments. Take time to enjoy the people who are in your life and embrace their presence. Be in the moment. Remove distractions and enjoy the moment.

Writing things down is also a great outlet to help express your feelings. I like to write notes in my phone personally. It is convenient and I always have the notes to refer back to. I also write in my journal ideas and thoughts that may come across my mind.

Prayer keeps me centered. With these trying times, I think it is important to have a relationship with the higher power. I’ve been in so many unfortunate situations during my life on this Earth, but God has never left my side. Even when I wasn’t always doing the right thing, He was always there to guide me. He is truly an awesome God!

I hope these tips were helpful and that everyone stay safe and well during this time! Until next time, XOXOXO.

Why Kobe’s Death Made an Impact on My Own Life.

As many of you may already know, the legendary Kobe Bryant & his daughter were killed in a helicopter crash last Sunday, along with seven other victims. May they all rest in paradise. Honestly, no one saw this coming and that’s how it usually happens, suddenly. Hearing the news that Kobe passed away was heartbreaking and quite frankly unbelievable. As a child, I watched Kobe play ball with the greats as I spent time with my own father. I grew to love basketball because it was something that I could enjoy with my daddy. My daddy was a workaholic, he was always away from our home to provide for us and my mom, but he always made time to watch football, boxing, racing and my favorite, basketball. We would gather around the tv to watch the playoffs, the finals, the all star game! It brought our family together, even if it was for a short period of time. I miss those days. Hearing that Kobe passed away broke my heart because it almost felt like he was apart of our family. We watched him grow from a boy, to a mature adult. We witnessed when he made mistakes & bounced back from them as well. He was a father, a husband, a son, a legend! No one could deny his greatness! Let Kobe’s death be a lesson to everyone. Life is too short, I know you may hear that often, but it’s so true. When it’s your time to go, it nothing you can do or say. Live your life to the fullest! Embrace your love ones. Take chances. Be a blessing to others. Tell those who are near and dear to you, that you love them. XOXO Samone Lashae.

Too Much Social Media…

I will be the first to tell you that I LOVE social media. It’s pretty entertaining if you ask me. (Kanye shrug). However, I do think it’s important to point out that, too much social media could possibly be damaging. What do I mean by that you may ask? Well for one, in my own personal experience, people tend to compare themselves to the people they are following on social media. It’s nice to see all the great things that your friends and family members are up to, but it’s also important to remember that you have great things going on in your life too! Personally, I had to take a social media break because I found myself doing the exact same thing! All my friends on my timeline were either getting married or having a baby. I started questioning myself. Why wasn’t this happening in my own life??? But I came to the conclusion that my life is my life! Just because I wasn’t getting married or having children, didn’t mean great things wasn’t happening in my OWN life. Playing the comparison game is a game you will always lose. Be grateful for things that are going on in your own life, rather they are big or small. Life is a treasure. When the time is right, God will bless you with what your heart desires. Social media can also kill relationships. Nowadays, people have the tendency to be more interested in what’s going on, on Facebook or instagram to even notice their partners. There really isn’t a lot of genuine conversations going on because our phones play such a valuable part in our lives. One day, I was on the train and I decided to put my phone away to observe the behaviors of others on the train. What I saw was pretty alarming. Everyone had a phone glued to their hands indulging in social media, no conversations were taken place at all. It’s funny to see how far along social media has came. I remember having a black planet page and logging on it once a week just to see if I had any messages! The way our world is set up, social media is readily accessible. I challenge you to limit how much time you actually spend on social media. Enjoy your friends and family. Cherish those moments. Life is too short. Make this life a good one. Put your phone away!!

Robbins’ Back to School Bash

It is almost time for school to start back for most students who live in the Chicago area land. Summer time is officially over and it is time to get back in the swing of things. As an educator myself, I know how this time can be for our young people, as well as their parents. Many times students are forced to attend school without the proper equipment to be successful. For example, school supplies, uniforms or even a hot meal. Jasmine Washington, an educator from the city of Robbins, took this matter into her own hands and decided enough is enough. She had a vision to put on a back to school bash to help families in the city of Robbins kick start the new school year. Jasmine and a group of volunteers came together to make this vision become a reality. They provided free, yes I said it FREE hair cuts, hair do’s for the young ladies, back packs, school supplies, uniforms, food and entertainment! The bash was indeed a success! We are so thankful for people who are willing to step up the plate and pour into our youth. We need more people like this! Jasmine, we salute you for your drive to make our communities better! Keep up the good work!

Until next time, xoxo Samone Lashae.

Encourage yourself

Self Love

Life happens to us all, no matter who you are, we are face challenges! For example, this is my third time trying to post this particular blog post and to be frank, today hasn’t been the greatest but it is okay! I will get through every obstacles and roadblocks I am faced with. I will be victorious at the end of the day. See things happen for a reason. There is a learning experience in every single situation. Whenever I find myself being discouraged (Like today) I turn on some gospel music and praise God for the things I do have. I know we all aspire to have more in life, however, I believe I have to be grateful with the things I have now in order to go to the next level in life. I also, pray to the Lord for strength. It is so easy to listen and believe the lies that the devil has for us, but remember the devil is a liar and God has the final say so at the end of the day. Believe the things God has to say about you! Lastly, I say and post positive affirmations through out my home so when I am feeling down and out, I can look at those notes that I wrote to myself to stay encouraged. These notes have been very helpful in my life. They fuel my mind to want to keep moving regardless of the circumstances I face. I hope this blog post helped you as much as it has helped me. Samone Lashae. xoxo

Being yourself!

Self Love

It is so important to be yourself. Naturally, authentically you! There is no one like you and to be honest, that’s quite alright. I rather stand out in the crowd, than to fit in anytime. You have to accept yourself for who you are. I’ll admit, this took some time for me. I used to compare myself to other women. I would ask God why my skin wasn’t “lighter” or why am I so tall and slender. I am so grateful that God delivered me from that type of thinking. It is not good to compare yourself to anyone. What God has for you, is truly perfect. He doesn’t make any mistakes. Now I totally accept all the flaws I have. I even laugh at myself. I am happy with the life that God has blessed me with. My life isn’t perfect, however, I wouldn’t change the way it is. I encourage you to focus on the things that are going well in your life and to have an attitude of gratitude. Love the skin that you are in! Trust the process. Things could definitely be worse. I understand that life is full of twists and turns but remember to be grateful. Until next time, peace and love.

How I Find Peace In My Chaotic Life

Self Love

I must admit that my life is pretty hectic at the moment. Let me provide you with a little background information about myself. Well, I am a full time instructor at a high school, along with my full time job, I am very involved in the after school activities that my school provides. Most days, my day doesn’t end at work until 5:45 and it begins at 7:00. Needless to say, I am at work more than I am at home! However, my job is never done because there is always something to do, rather its grading papers, taking calls from parents and or students or simply putting a load of laundry in the washer machine. Some days, I barely eat because I am too busy at work to even think about food. I also tend to my family and friends, they need my love and support. Maintaining a healthy relationship with my significant other is a priority as well. Not to mention that I am an entrepreneur and I am in the process of purchasing my first home. Yeah, I have a lot of my plate, nevertheless, I am so grateful with the opportunities God has blessed me with. But I definitely get tired and weary like the next person. I’ve been on a mission to be happy and full of life in the mist of it.

So some of the things I have been doing lately has greatly improved my life. For one, I have been praying more. I talk to God about everything, literally. He has helped me overcome so many challenges in my life, I can’t do anything without him. I also indulge in positive affirmations and meditating. I find myself placing sticky notes all around my apartment to read and take in.This definitely has helped me with my anxiety. Whenever I am worried or find myself overthinking things, I read my affirmations over and over again. Speaking good things over yourself is so important! It opens a whole new world of opportunities. Here is a few affirmations I say daily over myself.

  • I am confident in my abilities.
  • I easily accomplish my goals.
  • My environment is peaceful and calm.
  • I wake up happy and excited every single day.
  • I am loving and lovable.
  • My life is full of love and I find love everywhere I go.
  • I am successful.
  • I am full of life.

Take some time out of your day to embrace and love yourself. Remember, there is power in your tongue, if you are going to speak about yourself, it should only be GOOD things. I hope this article helped! Peace and love. Samone Lashae.
